Who is NYCEA?

NYCEA is a professional organization dedicated equally to scholarship and teaching. One of twenty regional affiliates of the College English Association, the NYCEA welcomes faculty, students, independent scholars and creative writers who are interested in contributing to scholarship, teaching, and literary culture. And you don't have to be a New Yorker to join! Though most of our members are from the northeastern United States and Canada, we welcome members from all over the world.

NYCEA Conferences

NYCEA holds an annual conference alternating between upstate and a downstate. Previous conference themes have included "Literature as Healing," "The Uses of Fiction," "Literature and the Sea" and "American Dreams and Dreamers."  Keynote speakers and presenters have included well-known creative writers and scholars.  Our conferences are intimate and welcoming, and give presenters an opportunity to share insights about literature, teaching, and writing.

Graduate Student Prizes
We encourage graduate students to present papers at NYCEA conferences.  A cash prize is awarded for the best paper delivered by a graduate student at each conference.  Graduate students may submit their papers and are usually notified by the end of the conference if they have won.
